Lorelei's Review
******We received an ARC in exchange for an honest review******
Bedlam is the story of DS Joe McNeil, who is a police officer in the town of Bedlam. For the past year he is the only one to believe his love, Kit is just missing and not dead. He is constantly haunted by her ghost and his past.
"... Look around you, life goes on, bad things happen, and it's our job to try and put them right..."
Lately Joe has been pushing the limits and most people in his life, who had been looking out for him, long since turned their backs but his friend DI Dennis Todd still remains.
" ... What did I do?... I'll tell you what I did,... I didn't give up..."
At a crime scene at the beginning of the book we are introduced to Nell. Nell is believed to be dead but Joe breaths life back into her. Is Nell a victim or a murder? Once in the hospital she will not talk to anyone about what has happened to her or what she has witnessed. When she finally speaks she says two words..."Joe McNeil"
"Don't you understand? There's no need to go looking for him. He will find you..."
With the help of Nell, all his ghosts, clues he uncovers, and a lot of twists and turns, Joe must go back to the beginning to find the answers he is looking for. To answer his questions over his obsession with Nell and to uncover what really happened to his love Kit.
"...you are responsible for all of this. To understand you must go back to the beginning..."
B A Morton is a very talented British author of horror and mystery books with a touch of love and obsession. This book kept me wondering what the answers were going to be. Horror/mystery is not a genre I usually read but I did enjoy this book until the end and I give this book a Nerd Alert B++.
